Statement of Purpose
The Office of the Academic Registrar supports the instructional and student progress endeavours of the University by providing quality services to students, faculty, academic and administrative departments, and the public.
This service to the entire University community gives the Office of the Academic Registrar a special vantage point to help address issues affecting both students and faculty. Staff of the office must work to understand their customers’ requirements and current and anticipated administrative needs. Preparations must be made to meet future needs as well. Staff must demonstrate professionalism and integrity and strive for continuous improvement.
Services include course record management, course assignment, final examination scheduling, publication of the Undergraduate checklists and the Final Examination Schedule, academic record creation and maintenance, student registration, grade processing, transcript issuance, academic calendar formulation and publication. student certification, creation and maintenance of the Academic Advisement system, degree audit, monitoring of academic and administrative policies, student and course information system operation, retention and graduation outreach, the dissemination of accurate, timely, and complete information, and service on University committees.

Objectives
- To provide registration services that support the mission of the University by providing a full range of academic records and policy services for a constituency made up of students, faculty, staff, institutional leadership and external agencies.
- To create and maintains accurate academic records, information and provide enrollment services necessary for students to attain their educational goals.
- To assist the academic units in the development, documentation, dissemination and implementation of curriculum, course offerings, and academic policies and procedures.
- To controls Academic Units where teaching takes place. These are called Faculties or Schools and are headed by Deans. Each Faculty or School has an Administrator (at various ranks) who is a representative of the Academic Registrar.

Profile of the Academic Registrar
The Office of the Academic Registrar is headed by Mr Walemba Kelvin. Kelvin is an experienced education administrator with over 10 years of progressive management and academic experience. He is currently pursuing a Master of Computer Science with a specialization in Computer Applications. He holds Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Strategic Project Management from the Catholic University of East Africa – Kenya, Bachelor of Science in Telecom and Network Engineering and a Diploma in Management of Information Systems both from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton – Kenya.
Kelvin has been the academic Registrar of Rwenzori International University since 2022. He also serves as the Director for Information Systems and computing which he has done since 2018 when he joined RIU, he is also an instructor in the School of Business.
